UPC filing reveals possible new Wii SKU?

6 10 2007

Nintendo has filed what could be a new SKU for their popular Wii console. What could this be, though? Has Nintendo released another color for the Wii, like black? Has Nintendo made a firmware update, included a hard drive (in your dreams) or DVD playback capabilities in the Wii? Is this just a holiday bundle with a new game included or without Wii Sports or with a new component like the Zapper? Has Nintendo included their new Wii remote “jackets” with this new SKU? Nobody knows.

Obviously if the past means anything, there’s been some sort of change for the better with the system. That’s what usually happens after I purchase mine. I bought a Game Boy Advance and they released the better-looking SP with new colors, a backlight and a compact design. I bought a Nintendo DS and they released a new DS that actually looked good; awesome in fact and was also smaller, had a brighter screen and came in polar white, black and pink. (Not that I wanted pink or anything)

The one thing I’ve been thinking about is hasn’t Nintendo already announced that the new free “jackets” for your Wii remote (ugly protective cover) will be included with all future Wii consoles? Does Nintendo have to file a new SKU just for this? In case you haven’t been following the latest Nintendo news, Nintendo’s huge “September Surprise”, or at least what we think is the September Surprise was an ugly free Wii remote jacket. It’s like a jacket… for your Wii remote. In other words, it’s a lawsuit avoider for Nintendo. You can order up to 4 free ones if you live in the US or Canada from Nintendo of America’s official site… but that’s aside the point.

I’m sure it won’t be anything special since Nintendo has no concern whatsoever for hardcore gamers anymore; maybe they have some “awesome” microgames waiting for us again. Can’t get enough of Carnival Games, Wii Sports and Wii Play! /end sarcasm
